1. First Science Workshop “Supremum” conducted for students of State Government Schools:
On 28th October 2017, RAA conducted a one day science workshop at IISERB for government school students studying in classes X and XII from Bhauri. There were 50 participants accompanied by two teachers. 15 enthusiastic student volunteers from 1st year to 4th year BS MS participated with vigour. There were 3 student lectures to spread awareness about nutrition, health and hygiene. There were talks on general science and having the right aptitude towards it. This was followed by a 15 minute question answer session. They were also given a tour of the state of the art labs where various experiments such as visualisation of cells under microscope, electromagnetic experiments and basic chemical reactions were demonstrated to them. The program also took care of their lunch and their transportation. Books related to hygiene and scientific questions and answers were distributed to them. 2. Received a grant of Rs 4.00 lakhs in April 2018 from Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, following its call for proposals in the category "Crowd-sourcing science tool" under a citizen science endeavour for using “Foldscopes” as educational and training tool in State Government Schools
3. Second Science Workshop on "Foldscopes" for students from State Giovernment Schools:
Team Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyaan (RAA) organized a one day Science Workshop named "Supremum" at IISER Bhopal on November 04, 2018.
The workshop was based on Foldscopes (ultra affordable paper origami microscopes having sub-micron resolution) and funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The workshop taught the participants basic principles of microscopy (in local language) and guided them on assembling and using Foldscopes. There were 78 students from Classes XI-XII from Shasakiya Vidyalaya, Bhauri and Model School, Gandhinagar who attended the program.For pictures click here
